Working with RAID 6 Presets
File enumeration may take a very long time if a hard drive has some hardware issues or its file system is severely damaged. Moreover, each access to a problematic drive inflicts additional damage. R-Studio Technician/T80+ has a special action to avoid this: Show Files (Advanced) that minimizes both parsing the file system and disk access.
There are two types of this action: the first one when the entire file system is processed with some exclusions (default), and the second one when only some individual folders are processed.
Enumerate files for the entire FS
These options depend on the file system type being processed. You should know what your are doing when selecting/clearing them. If you don't know which option to select/clear, select Do not process deleted files .
FAT32 Broken Hi Cluster
Windows erases file's hi clusters when deletes files on FAT32 file systems. That makes recovery of such files very difficult. R-Studio may collect more information about such files to increase their chances for their successful recovery. Such collection will require additional information which in its turn require additional disk reads. You can control to what extent R-Studio Technician/T80+ will reduce disk reads.
No additional disk reads (fastest but less files to find) |
R-Studio Technician/T80+ will try to recover broken hi clusters without additional disk reads and therefore additional information. Fast but not many files will be successfully recovered. |
Smart disk reads (default, most files to find) |
Some additional disk reads will be performed to gather more information, and R-Studio Technician/T80+ will use some heuristic methods to recover broken hi clusters. Slower but more files will be successfully recovered. |
Exhaustive disk reads (very slow but recovers the largest number of files) |
A lot of additional disk reads will be performed to gain most possible information to recover the maximum possible number of files will be successfully recovered. |
Enumerate files in individual folders starting from the root
R-Studio Technician/T80+ can enumerate files and subfolders in individual folders rather than in the entire file system. This is especially important when the hard drive has severe hardware damage or file system corruption. This can be done by selecting Enumerate files in individual folders starting from the root on the Show Files (Advanced) dialog box.
Click the folder where you want to enumerate files.
